What began as a tutoring program for students in 2008 evolved into a two-week summer camp in 2012. Designed to give the children of Bainet a way to have fun with fellow students while learning about the importance of exercise, nutrition, leadership, environmental activism and taking social responsibility through self-reliance. Each year, a topic is selected and a lesson plan that includes lectures, field trips, speakers and real-life exercises as well as recess is designed. The participants are provided with two nutritious meals a day. The camp began with 75 participants in 2012 and has grown to 300 participants in 2016. After each summer camp, local educators send pictures and stories of how the students are utilizing and sharing their learnings in their everyday life and that is the greatest thanks we could ever receive.
