Centre de Promotion Feminine Arts Menages (CEPROFAM) is a project begun by Madame Jacqueline Begin in the area of Bainet, Haiti in the early 1960’s. CEPROFAM is a 3-year program that provides a solid foundation that enables women to be self-sufficient by obtaining jobs as chefs, bakers, designers, and homemakers. Students have remained optimistic about their futures despite the conditions that the school has operated under since the earthquake in 2010 that demolished the building. The school continued operating underneath an outdoor canopy, with no walls — only chairs and a blackboard have been available; they are exposed to the elements. A month after the earthquake, FF4H recognized the tremendous value of this program and started raising money to help rebuild the school as well as provide scholarships to students in dire need.
CEPROFAM proudly boasts of over 400 graduates since its inception in the 1960s. Truly, Mrs. Begin’s labor of love is demonstrated through entrepreneurship.
